Support Network at Penn National

Volunteers

Vitally important to SNaP's operations is our corps of volunteers—fellow residents of Penn National who are willing and able to spend a few hours each month helping neighbors in need. They perform a myriad of tasks that do not require the services of trained, licensed professionals. Volunteers' services are generally free to SNaP members.

Preferred Providers

When professional services are needed, SNaP calls upon or recommends a company from our network of Preferred Providers. These are local companies whose employees can do the heavier or more demanding tasks that are beyond the scope of volunteers. Members pay for these services, though often at a reduced rate.

Executive Director

The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of SNaP. She makes sure that members are receiving the services they should be getting, brings matters to the attention of the Trustees as necessary, acts as primary liaison between SNaP and the various service providers, and fields or redirects member questions and comments. This is currently the only compensated position in SNaP. Our first Executive Director, Donna Crissman, is a Penn National resident.

Committees

After nearly a year of opeartion, SNaP's committee structure has been changed considerably to address current needs. Many of the "operating" committees have been eliminated or restructured. The current committees are:

Membership Committee — to steadily increase membership as well as retain present members on a year-to-year basis
Publicity Committee — to continually promote and publicize the Support Network at Penn National
Activities Committee — to plan new and recurring social and educational programs as well as fun events
Quality of Life Committee — to provide opportunities for members to enhance their knowledge and their physical well being through active living and to provide a clearinghouse, via this web site, that keeps members apprised of all local educational and cultural activities available to them. (This combines the former Life Long Learning and Health Support Committees)
Social Support Committee — to help members stay actively involved in the community, or simply "connected" rather than isolated. The "SNaPBacks" social group is one of SNaP's social support endeavors.
Historian — to document SNaP’s journey and to capture events through photographs

Each Committee has one or more of the Trustees as its leader and liaison to the Board of Trustees. The committee structure is designed to manage SNaP's affairs efficiently and effectively, and ensure the highest levels of service to our members. This structure is flexible and may be changed by the Board of Trustees as necessary.

Board of Trustees

The SNaP Trustees are responsible for overseeing all aspects of the corporate affairs and operations of SNaP. Four of the Trustees serve as the Officers of the Corporation, and each Trustee has responsibilities relative to one or more of the various committees. The Trustees are elected by the members at the Annual Membership Meeting on the first Monday of November. All Trustees serve without compensation.
